Our fast-paced lives often distract us from what truly matters. Imagine a life where each moment is lived with intention, where you celebrate the small wins, and where you wake up every day excited to show up and take life on. The wisdom of the ages has shown us that fulfillment and happiness come from living with purpose and embracing each day as a gift.
So, a few days ago, I found myself reflecting on a personal experience that carries a poignant lesson about the importance of celebrating life.
Allow me to share a story that happened just recently that encapsulates this principle.I had just returned from the funeral of a dear friend, Ed Atrero, who passed away suddenly at the prime age of 50.
Just 10 months ago, we were in the city of Carlsbad for a short vacation for my wife's birthday weekend. My youngest son Adison and I were on a hotel balcony overlooking the back section of an amusement park, Legoland. Ed and Karen came over to join us that day as they live very close to the area; Ed, my son and I found ourselves immersed in a discussion that started with something as simple and delightful as hamburgers.
We talked about a local eatery called Hodad’s, renowned for its delicious burgers. Ed's patient demeanor stood out as he listened to my son enthusiastically ramble on about burgers and other culinary delights. The conversation then took a heartwarming turn when we began discussing dogs.
Ed shared that he missed having a dog and was contemplating getting one again. We chatted about different breeds – from Golden Retrievers to German Shepherds, Huskies, and Goldendoodles
This conversation wasn’t just about dogs; it was about the little joys and dreams that make life meaningful. Incredibly, about 5 months later, Ed's family adopted a dog – a husky they named Olaf.
Pouring one out for Ed.🥃 Forever in our hearts ♥️

It reminded me about celebrating life each day, the small events, and giving yourself props for your small accomplishments, as this sequence of events gave me profound insight into the importance of savoring the small wins in life.
It brought to mind a quote by Confucius: "We have two lives, and the second begins when we realize we only have one." This realization makes us aware of life’s fleeting nature and the need to live with full intention. So don't wait for a wake-up call. Take charge of your life now.
So today, I invite you to embrace intentional living. Celebrate the small wins and the big ones, cherish conversations about burgers and dogs, and always remember to live fully and with intent.
Rest easy Ed.
With love,
Adriel and Family
